The Patrol Division consists of 30 uniformed Patrol Officers who are led by 6 Sergeants and 2 Lieutenants. Patrol Officers are the first responders to calls for service providing quality service to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are the City's first line of defense against the criminal element and frequently respond to high risk incidents while providing safety for the public. Key to crime prevention and enforcement efforts, Patrol Sergeants utilize data driven crime analysis, referred to as COMPSTAT, to direct Patrol Officers and resources to those areas and times where crime trends are occurring in an effort to apprehend or thwart criminals.
When not answering calls for service, Patrol Officers proactively suppress criminal activity by patrolling neighborhoods and business districts. Patrol Officers also provide for safety on our City’s roadways by conducting traffic enforcement activities. Since Patrol Officers are the face of the Department, they routinely participate in Neighborhood Watch and Business Coalition meetings, community problem-solving activities, on-going Police training and numerous other law enforcement functions.
