Message from Chief Sheppard

Welcome to the Police Department’s website and to the year 2020! The end of 2019 brought the retirement of Police Chief Kevin Childe; we thank him for his 30 years of selfless leadership and commitment to guiding the Department from good to great. I speak on behalf of retired Chief Childe and thank the community for their support during his tenure. The Police Department is aligned for a bright future because of his commitment to building successful community partnerships.

On December 28, 2019, I received the highest honor of being appointed as the seventh Chief in the history of the Fountain Valley Police Department. I am exceptionally thankful and humbled by the overwhelming support from the community, City Council, and coworkers of the City of Fountain Valley.

My commitment to the community is to ensure the Police Department will unequivocally take the leadership role in providing public safety and quality of life in a manner that preserves the public’s trust. Our Department will make every effort to demonstrate the courage to protect life and property; and will provide the highest quality of service in a fair, impartial, and ethical manner.
