Training is a key component to assure high quality emergency service delivery. Firefighting and paramedic personnel undergo a rigorous initial and continuous training regimen.
The training program is managed by one of the department’s battalion chiefs, with a shift captain also assigned as the training officer.
Since 1972, Fountain Valley Fire Department and Huntington Beach Fire Department have shared a training center through joint powers authority known as Central Net Operations Authority.
The 2 departments train together as 1 agency and operate the 5-acre training center including a 5-story training tower, classrooms, and simulator props.
