On September 15th at approximately 1015 hours, officers from the Fountain Valley Police Department along with the Fountain Valley Fire Department responded to the intersection of Harbor and Heil regarding a roll over injury traffic collision. Upon their arrival, an Acura RSX was found rolled over with one occupant inside, along with an upright Honda Pilot with one occupant trapped inside. The Fountain Valley Fire Department along with the Orange County Fire Authority performed a heavy rescue and extracted the injured occupant from the Honda Pilot. Drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals to treat non-life threatening injuries. Investigation by the Fountain Valley Police Department showed that a silver Jeep Liberty was involved in a minor traffic collision with another vehicle at Euclid and Edinger in Fountain Valley. The suspect fled the scene and was followed by the victim to a commercial complex at Harbor and Lilac in Fountain Valley. The victim attempted to box-in the suspect vehicle, however it fled southbound Harbor. As the Jeep attempted to escape southbound Harbor at Heil, it rear ended the Acura RSX causing it to drive over the center median into north bound traffic and colliding head-on with the Honda Pilot. The Jeep Liberty fled the scene without stopping and was found abandoned nearby. At approximately 1:00 PM this date, Fountain Valley and Santa Ana police officers located the unlicensed 17-year old suspect driver of the Jeep at his residence in Santa Ana. The suspect was arrested for felony hit and run and later released to his parents. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
