[ARCHIVED] City is Halfway to its Water Conservation Goal

After cutting water usage by 22 percent in August, the city is now halfway to its goal of reducing consumption by 500,000 gallons.
“We’re halfway there in one-third the time,” said Public Works Director Mark Lewis. “And that is in spite of a hot August.”
Lewis urges residents to continue to think of ways to save water and not become complacent about their water consumption. He reminds residents that they can monitor their water usage on line at the city’s website, www.fountainvalley.org. Click on the Water Customer Portal, which allows water customers to see their hourly, daily, weekly and monthly water usage.
Make sure you have your current water bill from the city. You will need it to set up your portal account. The portal will walk you through the steps to set up the account.

Here are some suggestions for accessing and using the water customer portal:
When entering your account number on the registration form, be sure to enter all twelve digits, including dashes, from your most recent water bill.
Your password is case sensitive and must include a minimum of seven letters and one number.
Enter the “AMOUNT DUE” from your most recent water bill to verify that you are the owner of the account.
If you don’t receive a “Customer Connect Account Activation” email after signing up online, check your spam folder.
For best results, update your browser before using the portal.
If you have problems, call the city’s water billing customer service number at (714) 593-4420.

“August’s numbers tell us that people have adjusted their lifestyle. I feel we’re all doing a really good job,” Lewis said. “The community is doing a good job of sticking with it.”
