[ARCHIVED] Slater Street / 405 Bridge Demolition Alert

SlaterBridge

OCTA recently announced that the Slater Avenue Bridge, between Brookhurst and Bushard, will be completely demolished and rebuilt in one phase, not two as originally planned. Starting Friday, September 21, 2018, at 1:00 a.m., the Slater Avenue Bridge will be closed to ALL traffic, including vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians, and will remain closed for approximately 12 months.

The City of Fountain Valley will be working with OCTA on implementing detour plans, including striping modifications at adjacent intersections and signal timing adjustments to accommodate the closure. In addition, OCTA is working with the local school districts, especially Huntington Beach Union High School District regarding Fountain Valley High School and Valley Vista High School, on a bussing/shuttle service plan to address students that currently walk or bicycle to school over the Slater Avenue Bridge. For complete details and the most up-to-date information, visit OCTA’s website at www.octa.net/405improvement.

Drivers are strongly encouraged to allow extra time to get where they are going, find alternate routes ahead of time and be patient with one another. We can get through this together.
