NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Wednesday November 8, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber Building, 10200 Slater Avenue, Fountain Valley, California, the Fountain Valley Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing to discuss a draft Housing Element Amendment, and on Tuesday November 21, 2017 in the City Council Chamber Building, 10200 Slater Avenue, Fountain Valley, California, the Fountain Valley City Council will conduct a Public Hearing to consider adoption of the draft Housing Element Amendment.
The Housing Element is one of the seven State-mandated elements of the City’s General Plan and was last updated in 2014 for the 2014-2021 planning period pursuant to California Government Code Section 65588. The Housing Element identifies and assesses the City’s existing and projected housing needs and provides an inventory of constraints and resources relevant to meeting these needs. The housing element must also identify how the City will meet its share of the regional housing need, commonly referred to as RHNA.
The City will be amending its 2014-2021 Housing Element to ensure that the City will continue to meet its RHNA goals for the remainder of the planning period. During the public hearing dates and times listed above to discuss the Housing Element Amendment, the Planning Commission and City Council will discuss potential sites to accommodate the City’s share of the RHNA for lower income households.
An opportunity for public comment will be provided at both public hearings.
Notice of Public Comment Period:
The draft Amendment to the Housing Element will be available for public review and comment for 30 days starting October 19, 2017 and ending November 20, 2017 at 5 pm. The document will be available at the following locations:

Center at Founders Village Senior and Community Center – 17967 Bushard St.
