The City of Fountain Valley owns and maintains various sports courts throughout the Fountain Valley Sports Park, the Recreation Center, and several neighborhood parks. Residents and visitors regularly use these courts for rentals and open play, and due to their frequent use, the sports courts require resurfacing and general maintenance approximately every five (5) years.

Three (3) tennis courts at the Fountain Valley Sports Park, located at 16400 Brookhurst Street, which currently double as non-permanent pickleball courts, are scheduled for resurfacing. Rather than simply resurface these three (3) courts, the Fountain Valley Recreation and Community Services Department has decided to convert these 3 courts into twelve pickleball courts. Additionally, the existing four (4) pickleball courts at the northwest corner of the Sports Park will also be resurfaced. This conversion will increase the number of permanent pickleball courts to sixteen (16), which meets the minimum court requirements set by the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) to begin hosting professional tournaments.

The conversion and resurfacing of this important project began September 29, 2025, and is anticipated to be completed by November 7, 2025. Two pickleball courts will remain open at a time during the project.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation during the pickleball courts conversion and resurfacing project at the Fountain Valley Sports Park. Should you have any questions and/or concerns, please call the Public Works Department at 714-593-4433.
