There have been Hepatitis A outbreaks in San Diego and Santa Cruz counties, primarily in their homeless and/or illicit drug user populations. Most recently, Los Angeles declared an outbreak after identifying two locally acquired cases. Orange County has had only one identified Hepatitis A case associated with a homeless individual from San Diego and has had no local transmission. There is not an outbreak in Orange County; however the risk of Hepatitis A cases is real and the OC Health Care Agency (HCA) is taking active steps to be prevent such an occurrence here.
