Due to the anticipated rain storm advisory for this weekend, the City of Fountain Valley is expecting a significant weather system due to Hurricane Hilary. Sustained winds and heavy rains are expected to begin Sunday, August 20, 2023 through Monday, August 21, 2023. In preparation, the City has two sandbag fill stations available to residents.
Sandbag Station Locations:
City Yard – 17300 Mt. Herrmann Street
Recreation Center/Sports Park – 16210 Brookhurst Street, along the access road off Brookhurst, between the tennis courts and David L. Baker Memorial Golf Course
Each fill station is equipped with sand, bags, and shovels. Residents may want to bring their own shovels.
It is recommended that the bags only be filled halfway. This prevents them from getting too heavy to lift and allows for the top of the bag to be folded under to create a good seal when stacking.
