Opportunity for Volunteer Service Application Deadline is Extended to January 26

The City of Fountain Valley is now accepting applications from volunteers to sit on the following Committees, Commissions and Boards. Applications are available in the City Clerk’s Office located at 10200 Slater Avenue, Fountain Valley and online here. Appointments will be for two-year terms unless otherwise stated. Candidates for appointment must be residents of Fountain Valley and 18 years of age or older. The deadline for application submission to the City Clerk is 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

PLANNING COMMISSION

The Planning Commission acts in accordance with the ordinances of the City and State laws. It makes recommendations to the Council regarding amendment or repeal of a Master Plan, development within the City, subdivision of land, blighted and substandard areas of the City, zoning and land use, etc. The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

There are three (3) seats up for appointment (2 Full term and 1 Alternate)


FOUNTAIN VALLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Fountain Valley Community Foundation was organized exclusively for charitable purposes including soliciting, receiving, investing and making grants of funds, property and other resources, and to provide direct charitable services to aid, sponsor, promote, advance and assist worthy activities, programs and services in the City of Fountain Valley. Experience working with nonprofit organizations is desirable. The Fountain Valley Community Foundation meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Senior Center Conference Room.

There are two (2) seats up for appointment

 

FOUNTAIN VALLEY HOUSING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD

The Housing and Community Development Advisory Board reviews the City’s Federal Block Grant Program and recommends housing/community development activities to the City Council. The Board meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

There are three (3) seats up for appointment

 

ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

The primary functions of the Advisory Committee for the Disabled are to help (1) develop barrier-free access to buildings and facilities in the City; (2) provide information about recreation programs for the disabled; (3) provide information of disaster preparedness for the disabled; (4) develop community awareness of the employment potentials of the disabled; and, (5) inform the community about the needs of the disabled population. The Advisory Committee for the Disabled meets on the 1st Thursday of the odd-numbered months at 6:30 p.m. at The Center at Founders Village.

 

MEASURE HH OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE 

The purpose of the Measure HH oversight committee is to review, at a policy level, the City’s annual audited financial statement; mid-year budget report and proposed annual General Fund Operating Budget in regard to the receipt and expenditure of the fiscal year’s one-cent (1%) transactions and use (sales) tax revenue in relation to the City’s adopted “Responsible Spending Pledge” The committee will communicate its findings to the public and the City Council annually. Meetings are called as needed. The seats that will be available in January 2023 are:

 Business Member (3 year term)

 Active Resident Senior (3 year term) and;

 Alternate (1 year term)
