It’s a Social Media Frenzy - Spring Into Action! (#FVSpringIntoAction)

This May, join the Fountain Valley Recreation and Community Services department in #FVSpringIntoAction!  Fountain Valley is proud to be a community that supports its residents and local businesses. But businesses near and far are struggling! So let’s bring back our support this season by “Springing into Action” and showing what it means to be a community. Follow our social media for opportunities throughout spring to win prizes to local Fountain Valley businesses and to stay up-to-date with the latest news from the Fountain Valley Recreation and Community Services Department.

enior Socials Services Program - Information and Referral Program – NEW HOURS!
The Center at Founders Village has a new Senior Social Services Program that focuses on information and referral!  This program began in November 2020, and is helping seniors make connections to life-sustaining services such as nutrition, housing, transportation, and many more services!  Do you need assistance and think that having someone with a network and connections may be helpful?  Schedule an appointment to meet with our social services team.  All services are offered by appointment only on Tuesdays from 1-3 p.m. and Thursdays and may be scheduled by calling (714) 593-4446.  Appointments will take place virtually, via telephone, or in-person.  

Golden Years Peer Support Group with Bill Nelson – NEW HOURS!
The Center at Founders Village has an in-person or virtual peer support services!  Services are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays by appointment.  The program offers individual, group, and couple sessions.  Topics to be discussed include anxiety, loneliness, conflict resolution, family relationships, physical activity, food, and nutrition.  Call The Center at (714) 593-4446 to schedule an appointment or register for the group session. Don’t need to schedule a peer support appointment, but want to participate in some virtual recreation programs?  Check out the topics to be discussed every Monday from 2:30-4 p.m.:  


May 5 - "Light Check"  -  Are the lights on? Is anybody home? Let's check in on each other to see how you are doing. 

May 12 - "First Thing’s First" - What is the first thing you would like to do when the The Center at Founders Village is able to reopen?

May 19 - "Let's Get Cooking!" – Let’s get cooking chicken and learn how to make sure it’s juicy and delicious! 

May 26 - "Zoomin’ Jeopardy" – Two new categories! Who will be our Jeopardy Champion this month?

Round Table Discussion with Jane Herin – 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month
Join Jane on the first and third Friday of each month via Zoom, from 10-11 a.m., to discuss various topics that are relevant for the day, week, month, or year!  Jane will lead the conversation, but this is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and discuss topics that may inspire you.  Call The Center at Founders Village at (714) 593-4446 to join the discussion and receive login information.

Give Blood
Friday, May 14, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.   Blood Drive
Have you registered to donate blood yet? Join the City of Fountain Valley and the Southern California Blood Bank on Friday, May 14, 2021, between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to donate blood.  The bloodmobile will be on site in the parking lot by the Recreation Center (16400 Brookhurst Street, FV).  The Southern California Blood Bank provides their donations to local community partners and hospitals such MemorialCare Medical Center and Hoag Hospital.  Don’t miss this opportunity to help save a life. Schedule your appointment online today by visiting MYSCBB.org/schedule or calling (844) 380-5220. 

Garage sale
The Center at Founders Village – Garage Sale – Friday, May 14, 2021 by appointment only!
The Senior Center staff did some spring cleaning, and we want you to be the first to take a look at some of the oldies, but goodies!  All proceeds from the sale of the items will be donated to the Fountain Valley Community Foundation for senior services and programs. 

Think you may have seen something from the past that you may be interested in buying? Call us at 714-593-4446 to schedule a time to come check out the inventory.  Face coverings will be required during your visit, and browsing time will be limited to no more than 30-minutes by appointment only.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space will be limited.

The Center at Founders Village invites you to attend a virtual movie night with us on Friday, May 21 at 5 p.m. Join us to watch this film, which features a young woman, born at the turn of the 20th century, who is rendered ageless after an accident. After many solitary years, she meets a man who complicates the eternal life she has settled into.

RSVP by Wednesday, May 19 and then visit us at the Center to pick up your free special movie kit, which will include some of your cinema favorite snacks for the complete experience.  Event is free and open to all seniors.  Register by calling us at (714) 593-4446.
