On Tuesday, June 2, the Fountain Valley City Council passed the City’s 2020/21 Annual Operating Budget & Ten-Year Capital Improvement Plan. The City continues to feel the impacts of the COVID pandemic throughout the organization. Operational cuts in excess of $1,000,000 have been included in the 20/21 budget to bridge the shortfall of revenues during these uncertain times. Overall, the General Fund Budget for 2020/21 reflects a balanced operating budget where operating revenues exceed operating expenditures by approximately $2.6 million which is set-aside for reserves. Measure HH continues to provide the necessary funding to maintain essential city services and funds capital improvements, pays down debt and restores reserves. Some of the larger projects in the City’s General Fund Capital Project Plan includes, but are not limited to, the Recreation Center Interior Remodel, the updating of the Sports Park Outbuildings, and the first phase of the Emergency Vehicle Preemption System. The General Fund Capital Projects Plan represents $4.8 million of the citywide Capital Project Plan of $20 million.
