Rehabilitation of Newhope Street from Talbert Avenue to Warner Avenue, Project
TI274 began in July 2019 and was completed on October 4, 2019. Over a mile
segment was resurfaced and 17 driveway approaches were reconstructed to meet
ADA standards.
In addition, the City reconstructed 8 curb ramps to meet ADA
standards and added a left turn pocket into United Sports Brands. Prior to
this, the median blocked the entrance from the northbound direction. In
addition, new landscape and irrigation systems were added at two Newhope
medians.
The City of Fountain Valley received a grant from the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to utilize recycled rubber tires to complete this project. Over 14,565 tires were used for this project, saving those tires from going to landfills as waste.
Rehabilitation of Residential Roadways, Quadrant H3, J1, and J2 Complete
The City’s Residential Roadway Rehabilitation Project GT229 was completed on September 6, 2019. The project resurfaced over 5 miles of residential streets in Quadrants H3, J1 and J2.

Prior to
the project there were no ADA curb ramps in the area, now 65 new ADA curb ramps
have been installed. In additional, 19 trees were replaced with new 36” box
Crape Myrtle trees.
The project
also consisted of reconstructing sidewalk, curb and gutters that were lifted by
tree roots causing tripping hazards.
