A new phone-scamming trend has been on the rise for the past few months. Individuals across counties have been receiving calls from subjects claiming to be officers of the Social Security Administration (SSA).

This trend is one that has affected several Fountain Valley residents over the course of several months. We've received word that residents are on the receiving end of a call that appear to have come from the FVPD's business line (714) 593-4485. Please be advised that subjects are masking themselves by using FVPD's business line in an attempt to gain personal information from residents. This is a scam and citizens are being told to refrain from providing personal information to anyone over the phone. Agencies such as the SSA or IRS will NOT call to request personal information over the phone.

If anyone receives a call from our business line and doubt the authenticity of the caller, they should request to call the number back to verify the agency.
