Did you know that the Fountain Valley Police Department will check the security of your house while you are on vacation? If you request a “Vacation House Check” two police department RSVP officers will check the security of your house every week day for as long as you are away and even send you a report when you return home. This service is available to all Fountain Valley residents and best of all it's free.
This service is provided by the 42 men and women of the Police Department’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). The RSVP’s act as the eyes and ears of the City of Fountain Valley and the Fountain Valley Police Department. What happens if an RSVP team discovers an open or unlocked door or window at your house? First, they try to call you on the emergency number you have provided on your Vacation House Check request form. If they are unable to reach you, they'll use their police radio to call the PD dispatcher. Every police car in Fountain Valley will hear their call. Police officers will respond to the RSVP call and ensure there are no unauthorized persons in your home. If there are no problems, they will secure your doors and windows and depart.
How do you sign up for a Vacation House Check? You can fill out a form at the front desk of the Fountain Valley Police Department or better yet, you can request the check from the Police Department online by visiting fvpd.org and selecting the Vacation Checks tab or by clicking here.
