The Fountain Valley Police Department has teamed up with KidCents and the Rite Aid Foundation to provide a convenient and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of unwanted medication by installing a medication disposal unit in the front lobby of our Department. Anyone may now dispose of their unwanted medication safely and anonymously.

Studies have shown that youths are more likely to abuse prescription drugs than illegal street drugs. These studies have also shown that prescription drugs have become a leading cause of accidental childhood poisonings.  The goal of this partnership is to reduce the abuse of prescription drugs and accidental poisonings.

Please come by and dispose of any prescription medication in the disposal unit in the lobby of the Fountain Valley Police Department.  Our address is 10200 Slater Avenue, Fountain Valley, CA  92708.  For any questions, please call our business line at (714) 593-4485.

What is accepted:

  • Prescription medications
  • Over the counter medications

 What is not accepted:

  • Illegal drugs
  • Needles
  • Lotions or liquids
