[ARCHIVED] City to Celebrate 60 Years

The original item was published from February 27, 2017 11:46 AM to February 27, 2017 12:30 PM

The City of Fountain Valley is excited to be celebrating its 60th Anniversary in 2017, and we want you to join us in the celebration! The City of Fountain Valley was incorporated in 1957 as the 21st city in the County of Orange. Since its incorporation, Fountain Valley has established itself both locally and nationally as a forward-looking community dedicated to improving the quality of life for its citizens.

The fantastic growth rate which Fountain Valley experienced in the 1960s took place within the framework of a Master Plan adopted before any developments had begun. As Fountain Valley marches into the next millennium, we can point to our many successes over the past 60 years and build on this foundation to not only provide stability in the lives of our citizens, but create the vision for the 21st century.

The tentatively schedule of 60th Anniversary events is as follows:

  • Friday, June 23, 2017, at 8:00 p.m. - 60th Anniversary Celebration Fireworks Show
  • Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. – 60th Anniversary Celebration Parade

The fireworks show will be held during Summerfest at the FV Sports Park, located at 16400 Brookhurst Street. The fireworks show is free to the public; however, parking at the FV Sports Park is $5 during Summerfest. Dinner and dessert will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefitting local non-profit organizations.

The parade will be held on Heil Ave. starting at Magnolia St. and concluding inside the FV Sports Park at the annual Summerfest event. Everyone is welcome to participate in the 60th Anniversary parade. To participate, please complete and submit the parade application listed on our 60th Anniversary website: www.fountainvalley.org/1193/60th-Anniversary. Sponsorship is also available for those who may be interested.
